NPUI calls for peace

The Naga Peoples Union, Imphal (NPUI) on behalf of Nagas residing in Imphal has expressed pain and sorrow over the prolonged ethnic clash between Kukis and Meiteis.
NPUI, in a statement, not only shared the grief, pain, sorrow and difficulties faced by the internally displaced persons and but also condoled the deaths of more than 100 persons and prayed that the deceased victims may rest in eternal peace.
The ongoing violence has been hampering livelihoods of all communities living in the State, it said and urged the State and the Central Governments to bring peace and tranquillity in Manipur at the earliest.
NPUI also enclosed a list of Naga tribes residing in the State capital and urged all non-Naga fraternity and communities to cooperate and coordinate with them to avoid any kind of untoward incident and misunderstanding among different commu- nities.
"Let us have a cordial understanding by sharing a sense of good brotherhood, neighbourhood, friendship, kindness and helping hand to each other for peaceful co-existence in the State," it added.
NPUI further identified that Kharam, Tarao, Monsang, Moyon, Chothe, Khoibu, Aimol, Chiru, Inpui, Zeme, Thangal, Maram, Lamkang, Anal, Liangmei, Maring, Mao, Poumai, Tangkhul and Kabui/Rongmei are the twenty Naga tribes presently living in Imphal.
