Imphal, July 31 2023:
Rongmei Naga Luh Phwam (Imphal Luangrian), Kabui Mother Association (KAMA) Manipur, Zeliangrong Union, Imphal Zone, Rongmei Naga Council Manipur (Imphal Luangrian), Maring Napuya Yinglam Imphal have expressed their resentment to the Meira Paibis of Checkon Area for their random interference.
In a joint release, the bodies claimed that a group of Meira Paibis interrupted the Tribal women vendors who came to clean up the Tribal Market in order to re-opened the market after prolonged closure due to the present unrest of the State.
The bodies asserted that the New Checkon's Meira Paibis have no right to interfere in the functioning of the Tribal Market as it was specifically built for the tribals.
"Tribal people have only one market in Imphal City.
This tribal market does not belong to the Kuki community alone.
It was built for the tribal people under the Ministry of Tribal Affairs, Government of Manipur", it added.
