Taragi Cheisu lines up meet with CSOs

Imphal, March 08 2024: The Taragi Cheisu has convened a meeting tomorrow which will be attended by representatives of different civil society organisations, meira paibi lups, clubs and organisations.

The meeting which will be held at the premises of Huiyen Lalong Thang-ta Association Manipur at Yumnam Huidrom in Imphal West district will discuss the crisis in Manipur.

Addressing a press briefing at its office at Khurai Ahongei today, Senior Advocate Khaidem Mani who is the secretary general of Taragi Cheisu said that the purpose of the meeting is to share ideas on how to end the violence so that the State can focus on development again.

Saying that the situation in Manipur cannot be taken as normal even after over 10 months of violence, K Mani continued that it is time for all the people to work together and end the conflict.

Every person knows that the violence in Manipur was instigated by some armed Kuki miscreants who entered the State illegally, the Senior Advocate claimed and added that what the Meitei people have been doing is to defend themselves and their villages from the onslaught.

The Meitei people are not satisfied with how the Government of India has been dealing with the issue in Manipur, K Mani said.

Stating that the violence has put almost all people in misery, he added that different organisations and the majority of the people want to see normalcy return but there is not much coordination among them.

Every organisation must work with a common objective to end the violence, he said and added that several organisations have been formed amid the violence but not much coordination is seen among them.

He also said that legitimate inhabitants of Manipur need to see the problems being created by illegal immigrants and work together on a solution instead of narrowing the situation in Manipur to Meitei-Kuki clash.

K Mani said that suggestions given by Manipuri Kukis who have been co-existing with other communities must be taken in to restore normalcy in the State.
