38 more illegal immigrants deported

Imphal, May 02 2024:
The first phase of deportation of illegal immigrants from Myanmar has been completed with 38 more immigrants leaving Manipur today through Moreh, said Chief Minister N Biren Singh in a post on microblogging site "X" .
A total of 77 illegal immigrants were deported in the first phase.
One Indian National was also brought back from Myanmar during the handover ceremony, continued N Biren Singh.
It may be noted that the handover ceremony was held at Moreh Integrated Check Post with the attendance of leading authorities from both countries.
The 38 Myanmar Nationals were apprehended by security forces from different regions of Churachandpur district for unauthorized entry and were kept at the detention centre at Manipur Central Jail.
On March 8, they were transported to Assam Rifles' Key Location Point (KLP) at Moreh via helicopter and were safely handed over to Myanmar authorities today.
Notably, out of the 38 Myanmar Nationals, seven are children.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister has assured that the State Government is continuing the process of identification of illegal immigrants and recording their biometric data.
"Let's keep our borders and country secure", appealed the Chief Minister on X .
