Senapati, September 29 2023:
Senapati District Students' Association (SDSA) on Friday demanded immediate restoration of internet services in Senapati district.
In a press communique, the SDSA said it "acknowledges the importance of keeping vigilant of any unlawful activities of the use of internet.
However, to suspend its uses in areas unaffected by conflict is a gross violation of human rights" .
While stating it is the duty of the government to make internet accessible by its citizens without interruption, the students' body recalled that it had urged the chief minister on July 12 to designate Senapati district as a green zone in the interest of the student community and the citizens of the district.
The notification from the authority concerned for compartment exam of HSLC and failure of many applicants to appear the same was due to suspension of internet service, the SDSA said.
It then expressed shock at the rationality of the order without any consideration and termed it as blatant negligence of their plea.
The students' body then demanded immediate resumption of internet services while warning that failure to address to their request at the earliest will compel launch of intense agitation and severe consequences.
