Arms seized

Combined teams of security forces have seized arms and ammunition from Andro-Ngariyan Road, K Molzol and Phaizol village in separate search operations.
Yesterday night, a combined team of Imphal East Commando and Special Commando Khabeisoi recovered arms and ammunition from Andro- Ngariyan Road in Ngariyan hill area around 7 pm.
Acting on reliable information about the presence of arms and ammunition in the area, the combined team carried out a massive search operation and searched the abandoned huts and other suspected human dwelling places along the Andro-Ngariyan Road.
During the search, the combined team detected two jute gunny bags and a suspected long range weapon wrapped in a light purple and green "Khudei" (traditional loin cloth) in a bush near a pillar of Manipur Forest Department.
Arms and ammunition found concealed inside the gunny bags include one INSAS rifle along with magazine and 12 live rounds, another 4 live rounds, 10 hand grenades, 51 bomb detonators, 2 high explosive bombs, 4 ammunition containers and one explosive carrying iron box.
The seized items were handed over to Andro Police Station for further legal action and no arrests were made during the search operation, said sources.
Separately, a combined team of Assam Rifles, CRPF and district police recovered arms and ammunition from K Molzol and Phaizol village under Kangchup Police Station this morning.
Based on credible input, a combined team of 22 Assam Rifles, 16 Assam Rifles, 32 Assam Rifles, 158 Battalion CRPF and Kangpokpi district police launched a joint search operation at K Molzol and Phaizol village around 4 am.
During the search operation, one 9mm pistol with magazine, one M20 pistol with magazine and one country-made pistol were recovered.
The seized arms and ammunition were handed over to Kangchup Police Station.
