Killing of Robinhood Old school of demised student leads protest

Various organisations continue to come forward to condemn the killing of Sapam Robinhood and condole the late student.
The teaching, non-teaching staff and students of Ananda Singh Higher Secondary Academy have condoled the demise of its student, Sapam Robinhood, who died in police action against protesters demanding ILP on July 8 .
They also shared the grief of the family members.
A statement issued by the Principal of the school also prayed for the departed soul.
Condoling the demise of Sapam Robinhood, the Scheduled Tribe Demand Committee of Manipur (STDCM) has strongly condemned the 'atrocious' act of the police.
A statement issued by the STDCM said that such unfortunate incidents might have been avoided had the Govt engaged protesters for talks well in time.
As such, the Govt should take up adequate measures to prevent recurrence of such incidents in future.
The STDCM also endorsed the movement for the protection of the indigenous people.
It urged the Govt to shun its habit of sidelining any demands until the occurrence of mass upheaval.
The committee also shared the grief and pain of the bereaved family.
At the same time, the Bangalore Manipur Students' Association (BMSA) has condemned the brutality of the police against students who are joining the movement for the protection of indigenous people of the State.
The BMSA also shared the grief of Sapam Robinhood's family.
Condemning the killing of Robinhood and injuring several others in police action on protesters demanding ILPS, the Churachand Higher Secondary School Students' Union has demanded the resignation of the CM and Dy CM on moral ground.
Asserting that closure of educational institutions will not be a long term solution to the issue, the union urged the Govt to reopen the institutions at the earliest.
'We as students joined the movement spearheaded by the JCILPS as we consider the demand is for us as well as for posterity,' the union asserted while adding that they would continue to join the movement.
Nongchup Imphal Meira Paibi (NIMPAL) in collaboration with Nupi Khunai, Lamsang Bazar staged a sit-in today at Lamsang Bazar demanding implementation of ILPS in the State.
The protesters also strongly condemned the killing of Sapam Robinhood.
Strongly condemning the killing, the Shillong Manipuri Students' Union said that CM O Ibobi and Dy CM Gaikhangam should be tried in a murder trial court for failing to control the security forces.
Manipur University Students' Union (MUSU) has demanded fitting punishment against the police personnel involved in the killing of Sapam Robinhood at the earliest.
Vehemently condemning the killing of Robinhood, the All Manipur Meitei Christian Forum (AMMCF) has said that the police personnel involved in the killing deserve termination.
Asserting that the AMMCF endorsed the movement for the protection of indigenous people of the State, the forum urged the authority concerned to understand and feel the sentiments of the people.
The Forum for Demand of ILPS in Manipur (FDILP), Thongju Part I and II has urged all concerned to lit a lamp at their gates to show respect to Robinhood, the torch bearer, tomorrow (July 11) at 7 pm.
Khwairamband Keithel Lambi-Mataida Potpham Phambi Lup urged the Govt to enforce the ILPS at the earliest before more lives are lost.
Manipur Peace and Integrity (MAPI) Council, Indigenous People's Association of Kangleipak (IPAK), Manipur, Kuraomakhong United Club, All India Trade Union Congress, Manipur State Committee, Kanglei Chanura Chaokhat Lamching Lup, Huidonpokpi Tarang Apunba Development Club Ningthoulai, Chanura Chaokhat Khongthang Lup, Maniwood Club, All Manipur Women's Social Reformation and Development Samaj, Nongpok Leingak Apunba Nupi Lup, Joint Committee of 3 Clubs, Thongju Part-II, Manipuri Chanura Leishem Marup, Kege Moirang Apunba Lup, Moirang have condemned the killing of Robinhood.
