Imphal, October 23 2023:
Imphal East deputy commissioner has issued an order directing all lodging and accommodation providers within the district to report arrival of foreigners.
The directive has come in line with the regulations of the state's home department and ministry of home affairs foreigners' division.
According to recent orders of the state and central governments, keepers of hotels, boarding houses, clubs, rest houses, hostels, and similar establishments, whether furnished or unfurnished, must furnish a duly filled Form C and arrival report of foreigners to the Registration Officer concerned.
This report must be submitted within 24 hours of a foreigner's arrival, the orders said.
The requirement applies to both cases where lodging is provided for free or for reward.
This regulation covers religious institutions, charitable trusts, public organisations, and other entities of social, religious, or public nature within the jurisdiction of Imphal East district.
Failure to comply with the directive may result in legal actions under the extant laws and regulations, including the Foreigners Act, 1946, and the Foreigners Order, 1948, the order cautioned.
