Imphal, October 17 2024: Rituals were performed at the Mongba Hanba Umang Laiphamlen by Lainingthou Mongba Hanba Thougal Lup on the full moon day of Manipuri lunar month Mera.

Addressing media persons at its Palace Compound office, here, on Thursday, Lainingthou Mongba Hanba Thougal Lup president Ch Nandalal stated that ever since the seven-colour flag of Manipur was hoisted at the Mongba Hanba Umang Laiphamlen on the 12th day of the Manipuri lunar month Mera, the Thougal Lup has been conducting rituals at the site.

He also mentioned that the holy site ceased rituals for the past many years, but resumed from last year (2023) in the light of the prevailing crisis in the state.

Nandalal also pointed out the need to initiate a cultural revolution to help the Meetei community thrive.

He opined that significant changes would occur in the state if cultural revolution is blended with social reform and political transformation.
