KUM hails safe handover of Kom trio

Kom Union Manipur (KUM) president Serto Ahou Kom has appreciated the Meetei community for safely handing over three Kom people following an incident at Kom village, Khongnangpokpi on July 3 .
The three people, identi fied as L Thangleiran Kom (60), A Thambou Kom (62) and T Resiyu Kom, were handed over by Meira Paibi of Chingri, Leikinthabi and Sekmai, along with COCOMI and Sekmai Police.
While conveying that the community is praying for end to the violence, Serto appealed to all concerned not to spread rumours/ misinformation about the community.
Meanwhile, the Komrem Union has stated that it is not in favour of any group or community involved in the present conflict in the state as it believes in promoting peaceful co-existence with every community.
In a release, the union expressed remorse that the community has been blamed or suspected of aiding group or commu nity involved in the conflict while acknowledging that due to existence of Kom villages in between the communities in conflict misunderstanding crops up occasional mainly due to suspicion.
However, Komrem community has no intention of getting involved in the present conflict in the state, it clarified and appealed to all concerned to strive for settling the conflict through the dialogue process instead of resorting to violence.
