MU students denounce shortages

Imphal, April 15 2024:
Students of Manipur University staged a sit-in protest at MU campus traffic island demanding filling up of inadequacies and rectifying alleged wrongs in the varsity.
Speaking on the sidelines of the protest, a student of Adult Education identified as Laishram Krishnadas contended that wrongdoings of MU authority is one of the reasons for degeneration of the varsity.
Instead of complet ing the recruitment process of teaching and non-teaching staffers, the university authority extended the tenure of retired teachers, he condemned.
Stating that meal is not served despite paying mess fees, he demanded arrangement for ensuring proper food to the students at the earliest.
While appealing to resolve the issues regarding selection of PhD and faculty of Manipuri department, Krishnadas further called for timely release of fellowship for non-NET PhD scholars.
He also demanded swift justice regarding the case taken up by CBI in connection with the recruitment of the university's security home guards.
