Imphal, April 15 2024:
Questioning the purpose of Union home minister Amit Shah's visit to Manipur, Coordination for Crisis Resolution, Manipur (CCFCRM) convenor O Sumatibala asked whether the home minister came to play tricks on the people.
Addressing a press meet at Irabot Bhavan, here, on Monday, Sumatibala said that after failing to keep his promise of returning to the state within ten days during his visit when the violence was at its peak, the union home minister finally showed his face to the people ahead of the polls.
Questioning if the visit was meant to disintegrate Manipur with the consent of the people, she said that the NDA government has left the people of Manipur confused.
Nonetheless, even if the government in the state failed to understand, it is time for the people to be wary of who is responsible for the distressful situation.
It is also time to replace the union government which restricted the state forces from effectively executing their duties, and instead deployed thousands of central forces.
Sumatibala then remarked that the present situation in Manipur is highly unsettling and as such, the people had called for postponing the elections.
However, the "greed" over the election is so great that the stoic PM finally spoke a few words recently, claiming that the conflict in Manipur was brought uri-der control due to the timely intervention of the centre.
Thus, all voters need to think about all of these and not elect a representative blindly, she asserted.
The press meet was also attended by co-convenor S Sorojini and member S Memsana.
