Farmers' training prog held at Terakhongsangbi

Imphal, November 12 2023:
A one-day awareness programme on the theme of Revival of Livelihood Opportunities through agricultural activities' was organised by Manipur Organic Mission Agency (MOMA), Department of Horticulture and Soil Conservation at Terakhongsangbi Awang Leikai community hall in Bishnupur district on Sunday.
Speaking on the occasion, Department of Horticulture-and Soil Conservation additional director K Devdutta Sharma remarked that the on-going conflict has greatly impacted the economy of the state.
The agriculture sector plays an important role in improving the economy of the state, but agricultural activities have been affected this year due to the ongoing conflict.
He then emphasised the need for joint efforts and cooperation between the Department and the farmers in this regard, adding that the Department will extend all possible assistance for the welfare of farmers.
The programme was also attended by Bishnupur District Horticulture officer S Su-shila Chanu, Moirang Kendra Apunba Loumi Sinmi and Nupi Lup president Md Sakil, Fisheries Department inspector Gunabati, MOMA agriculture project officer Kh Nimaic-hand, COCOMI Farmers' Wing convenor K Thoiba and others.
As part of the programme, seeds of winter crops were distributed to the attending farmers.
