MEELAL conducts MM class for displaced students

As part of its initiative to impart Meetei Mayek (MM) to the public at large, the Meetei Erol Eyek Loinasillon Apunba Lup (MEELAL) in association with the Directorate of Language Planning and Implementation started conducting Meetei Mayek classes for students displaced from Churachandpur and Phougakchao area who are taking shelter at Moirang Ibudhou Thangjing Guest House, Friday.
Commencement of the special class was preceded by observing 2-minute silence as a mark of respect to those who have lost their lives in the communal violence with MEELAL president Khaidem Ingocha, working president Sadokpam Tomba, Pebam Ibohal of Churachandpur Khumujam Leikai and Thokchom Jati and Lourembam Bilashini of Phougakchao Ikhai as presidium members.
Speaking at the event, MEELAL secretary (education) Paonam Thakaba informed that the Meetei Mayek competition which has been postponed due to the ethnic conflict will be held on September 24 at venues already specified earlier as there is some semblance of normalcy returning in the state and students have started attending classes.
He also appealed to all who have not yet submitted forms for the competition to complete necessary formalities by September 15 .
