Imphal, August 25 2023:
Observing that there are not many places where Kukis were not involved in clashes with other communities, Keirao MLA Lourembam Rameshwar said that their aggression has become a destructive force in the region.
Speaking at the passing out parade of Physical Fitness Endurance Training programme for 50 village volunteers of 24 clubs from different localities located between Waiton and Ishikha organised by Village Protection Force (VPF) at Sinam community hall on Friday, he recounted incidents of clashes between Kukis and other communities in Assam, Tripura, Bangladesh and Myanmar.
With regard to the clashes in Manipur, he said that violence perpetrated by Kukis is not against the state government but against the Meeteis with the sole purpose of disintegrating Manipur.
If the aggression was directed against the government, they would have stopped after burning government offices, he opined.
Further stating that the Kukis planned the whole incident beforehand and executed the same on May 3 by vandalising and burning Meetei houses and raping Meetei women in order to flush out Meeteis from Churachandpur district, he also expressed suspicion over timing of additional chief secretary V Vumlunmang, who is a key officer in the CM's Office, going on leave from April 25 and Stephen Guite, a manager at Malom Oil depot issuing 1100 kilolitres of petrol and diesel for a couple of hill districts, which were transported to different retail outlets located in some particular hill districts in the morning of May 3.On April 28 too, some Kuki miscreants vandalised a Meetei temple of Ibudhou Pakhangba and desecrated the Salai Taret flag in Churachandpur district.
So far, Kukis have destroyed 393 Meetei temples and the number does not include Ima Leimarel Sidabi and Lainingthou Sanamahi worshipping rooms in every Meetei household.
Everybody knows that they are not indigenes of Manipur and deporting the illegal immigrants is the only way ahead to restore peace in the state, he said.
Rameshwar further said that Kukis have major hands in the problem of drug menace presently being faced by the state and it reminds us of the Columbian drug mafias overrunning some US states at one time.
As they continue to carry out their drug business even amidst the ongoing crisis, they have changed their route towards Mizoram, which is why the neighbouring state is witnessing spurt in drug seizure cases, he contended.
There was a time when the state witnessed arm conflict with some UG groups waging a war of independence and over 1500 UG cadres have been killed in the conflict.
However, the present movement by the Meeteis is not a movement for demanding separation from India but to protect the territory of Manipur and to protect India, he said, while calling for encouraging the Meetei youth.
Rameshwar also said that despite the tens of thousands of central security forces deployed in the state, displaced Meeteis have not been able to return to their homes in Moreh and Churachandpur.
On the contrary, there are still several Kuki families in the heart of Imphal, The situation warrants the people to stay alert to face any eventuality.
He also likened politicians of Manipur to the infamous Mantri Dolansana and added that the only difference is today's politicians are filled with selfish interest and respond 'Yes' to everything knowingly.
The MLA also expressed dissatisfaction over the way the remaining MLAs of the state are responding to the situation when 10 Kuki MLAs are united and firm on their stand.
He also highlight how organised the Kukis are in this crisis unlike the Meeteis.
The passed out village volunteers also took a pledge to uphold the value of nationalism and safeguarding the territory of the country.
VPF convenor Haobijam Somorendro, Mak-eng Dolaithabi ZP former member Ningthoujam Sanatomba, retired director (health) Dr Manikanta also attended the passing out parade.
