SFs foil Kukis' bid to steal roofing sheets

Security forces deployed at Torbung Bangla chased away Kuki miscreants who had come to steal tin roofing sheets from the abandoned Meitei houses in the area on Friday morning.
According to a report, around 9.15 am Friday, the Kuki miscreants came at Torbung Bangla and tried to steal the roofing sheets from the Meitei houses which had been attacked and burned down since the May 3 violence.
The miscreants were spotted by a team of security forces at the mobile check post set up in CI Post, Torbung Bangla.
The team then went to the area and ordered the miscreants to leave, following which the Kukis fled the area and ran towards Haolai Khopi village.
Mention may be made here there have been multiple incidents of Kuki miscreants stealing from the Meitei houses in Torbung Bangla.
Most recently, a forest range officer tried to take away the roofing sheets but was intercepted by CRPF.
Meanwhile, security forces recovered four firearms, 38 ammunition and eight bombs from Imphal East and Imphal West districts during search operations.
According to a statement of police control room issued on Thursday evening, search operations were conducted in the fringe and vulnerable areas of Imphal East, Imphal West, Kakching, Kangpokpi and Thoubal districts during which security forces recovered firearms, ammunition and bombs.
The statement said a total of 123 checkpoints were installed both in the hill and valley and police detained 1,581 persons in connection with violations in different districts.
The statement appealed to the general public not to believe in rumours and to be wary of false videos.

It also appealed to the public to return the looted arms, ammunition and explosives to the police or nearest security forces immediately.
