Free eye camp held, humanitarian aid extended

To help the people affected by the present unrest, Maipakpi Maternity & Child Hospital, North AOC, Imphal, has provided relief materials to village volunteers and relief camps set up at various places.
A team from Maipakpi Hospital led by its Managing Director Dr Khoirom Tomba distributed relief materials at the relief camps set up in Okshongbung Birachandra High School; Thanga SC Girls Hostel, Thanga Wangma High School and Tangjeng Mangjing.

Speaking to the media, Maipakpi Hospital manager Surmani Nameirakpam shared that staff of the hospital made generous contributions from their salary to help the displaced people who have been forced to leave their home and take shelter at relief camps.
He asserted that humanitarian aid was extended to give some relief to the displaced people and alleviate their problems caused by the prevailing tense situation.
Meanwhile, All Manipur United Clubs' Organisation (AMUCO) in association with Thangbeiband United Club and Yaima Eye Hospital, Khagempalli Pankha, Huidrom Leikai, organised a free eye camp at the relief camp opened in THAU Ground, Imphal on August 23 .
During the free eye camp, a medical team led by Doctor Gaining Lulu Kamei and Ophthalmologist Alena Irom examined the inmates of the relief camp for eye related problems, said AMUCO in a release.
AMUCO president Pheioijam Nando Luwang, Thangmeiband United Club (TUC) president Pratap Leishangthem and general secretary Heisnam Phorel also took part in the free eye camp. At the camp, Ph Nando Luwang appealed to the public to provide their support in helping the displaced people who are currently taking shelter at various relief camps set up across the State.
He also urged the State Government to provide necessary assistance to the displaced people and the officials of District Administration to visit the relief camps regularly to take account of the grievances & needs of the inmates.
