Peace call : Kids make a bonfire of toy guns

Imphal, June 06: Joining their mothers in shouting slogans against the prevailing gun-culture in the State, young children made a bonfire of their toy guns at Bamon Leikai Mange Makhong today.

Ahead of the protest demonstration organised under the joint aegis of Women Empowerment for Justice, Bramhapur Leikai Meira Paibi, Bramhapur Social Club, Bamon Leikai Meira Paibi, Khongman Mangjin Meira Paibi, Khongman Zone-I Women's Welfare Association, accompanied by their mothers, the young children also took out a rally.

Placards inscribed with slogans like 'No to armed violence in Manipur', 'Sound of gun-firing frighten us', 'Stop gun culture', 'Stop violence and targeting civilians in Manipur','Bye-Bye AK-47 Rifles, welcome football', 'Sports promotes love, but gun makes people fight', etc carried by the rallyists were later consigned to flame in the bonfire of the toy guns.

After the bonfire, sports materials were distributed to the children.
