'I challenge open debate with not less than an MLA of the BJP' - Joykishan

Imphal, December 02 2018: Congress MLA Khumukcham Joykishan hits hard on rival ruling BJP government saying that all he did is the role that an opposition should do in democracy and challenge the ruling BJP for an open debate with anybody from the party but not less than an MLA.

"I challenge the ruling BJP for an open debate but with not less than an MLA", Jokishan said while talking to media persons today afternoon at Khuyathong.

The Congress MLA who is also the spokespersons of the MPCC said that he will continue to pin point the wrongs that the ruling government is committing.

He added that if the government felt that there is no BJP MLA who can debate with him they can hire any BJP MLA from anywhere in the country.

"If they feel the voice of the opposition is right than correct it instead of playing foul game", Joykishan said reacting to the statement of a BJP spokesperson regarding his criticism to the arrest and detention of TV Journalist Wangkhemcha Kishorchand.

The MPCC spokesperson mock the BJP government saying that they don't seem to understand the Constitution of India.

The present Manipur government led by the BJP itself is un-constitutional as they appointed a Congress MLA who had defected and joined the BJP as Minister.

"It is violation of the Constitution of India and BJP should know that", He said.

Coming to the detention of Kishorchand, Joykishan said that it is again un-constitutional to suppress any voice of dissent.

How anybody who speaks against the government could be arrested and that too under NSA that was supposed to use to armed rebel group, Joykishan questioned the government and added the government planning to book under NSA to anybody who speaks against the government.

Kishorchand is a Meitei Nationalist and his love for his Manipur provoked him to criticize the government, the MLA said while disclosing Kishorchand wife's statement to him.

He further added that everybody knows what Kishorechand did and most people particularly those in the judiciary knows whether it is right or wrong to detain Kishorechand for his critical comment which was posted at facebook.

"I respect Rani of Jhanshi but does this government know that there are also queen which were not less than the courage of Jhanshi Rani who had fought the enemy and sacrifice to protect the erstwhile kingdom", he said.

It is nationalist spirit of Kishorchand that he criticized the celebration of Jhanshi Rani as the queen had nothing to do with the state which was merged to the Indian Union only in 1949 .

"Well, today we are part of India and we respect Rani of Jhanshi but why the government could not remember Leima Linthoingambi or Chinglensana or other martyred King of the state who had sacrificed for protection of their motherland.

Why the government failed to remember Khuleibam Khela, a Pangal soldier who had sacrifice assisting Paona Brajabasi fighting the British soldier during Khongjom War, Joykishan said.
