Imphal, October 23 2023:
The High Court of Manipur, in collaboration with the High Court Bar Association and Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal organised a blood donation drive at RIMS on Monday.
The inaugural blood donation drive was conducted in the presence of Justice A Guneshwar Sharma, Justice Golmei Gaiphulshillu Kabui, Kh Samarjit Singh, Deputy Solicitor General for High Court of Manipur, Prof N Sanjib Singh, Medical Superintendent RIMS Hospital, and Yumnam Nirmolchand Singh, President of High Court Bar Association.
The drive is aimed at addressing the shortage of blood supply in the state, particularly in response to the rising cases of dengue, RIMS said in a press release on Monday.
"With the increasing number of dengue cases reported in Manipur, there has been a significant strain on the blood banks across the state.
In light of this challenging situation, the High Court of Manipur, along with the High Court Bar Association, has taken a proactive step to raise awareness about blood donation and combat the shortage of blood supply," the release further said.
"The blood donation drive witnessed the active participation of the High Court staff, as well as volunteers from the High Court Bar Association.
These individuals selflessly donated their blood to raise awareness about the urgent need for blood and to support the ongoing efforts to combat the dengue crisis," it continued.
The RIMS then recalled that the High Court of Manipur recently held its first blood donation camp at JNIMS College on October 21, 2023, as part of its ongoing efforts to serve the community.
The second blood donation camp was organised at RIMS as part of the ongoing blood donation campaign.
Justice A Guneshwar Sharma, Judge of High Court of Manipur, expressed his gratitude to the invaluable contribution made by blood donors in addressing this critical situation.
He said, "Their generosity and compassion have a direct impact on the lives of those suffering from dengue and other medical conditions requiring blood transfusion.
By donating blood, individuals become lifesavers, providing a lifeline to patients in need".
The Director of RIMS commended the High Court of Manipur and the High Court Bar Association for their collaborative effort in organising the blood donation drive, while emphasising the importance of community support during these challenging times.
He urged everyone to contribute to this lifesaving initiative, the release added.
