MU hosts lecture prog by SPIC MACAY founder

Imphal, January 30 2024: Manipur University (MU) hosted a lecture programme on 'Save the Tiger and Maybe also the Rudra Veena' which was delivered by Society for the Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture amongst Youth (SPIC MACAY) founder professor Kiran Seth at the Department of Zoology seminar hall on Monday.

Seventy-four years old Prof Kiran Seth, also an IIT Delhi former emeritus professor & Padma Shri awardee, is presently touring the country on a cycle to celebrate India's composite heritage, spread the message that cycling is good for health and environment, message of SPIC MACAY and promoting Mahatma Gandhi's vision of simple living and high thinking.

He has pedalled from Srinagar in Jammu & Kashmir to Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu from August 15, 2022 to January 31, 2023, left Kanyakumari on February 19, 2023 and reached Guwahati, Assam on January 2 and arrived here in the state on January 27 on a flight due to unrest situation in the state.

Delivering the lecture Prof Kiran Seth, a mechanical engineer by profession and recipient of Padma Shri, Rajiv Gandhi National Sadbhavana Award and NDTV Indian of the Year award, among others, informed that SPIC MACAY will be conducting five workshops on Manipuri art and culture at 15 relief camps set up in the state to help the resident cope with depression and anxiety.
