Liangmai Christian Centenary celebrated

Thousands of Liangmai people congregated at Tamei town in Tamenglong district from December 15 to 17, celebrating the 'Liangmai Christian Centenary'.
The event drew Liangmai people from distant places to join the celebration.
Liangmai Christian Centenary Celebration (LCCC), Manipur recounted the origins of Liangmai Christianity: When the Gospel of Christ reached the land of Liangmai, young Maisiging Newmai, born to Hulungbou Newmai from Taningjam village, embraced the gospel on September 16, 1923 .
He was the first among the Liangmai to become a follower of Christ.
As his faith grew, he began evangelizing his people into the gospel" .
Reflecting on the journey of Christianity since his personal acceptance of Jesus as saviour, the roots of Liangmai Christianity trace back to this momentous conversion.
Therefore, in 2023, Liangmais' Christianity turned 100 years this year, acknowledged LCCC.
"We celebrated our Centennial Christianity from December 15 to 17 in Tamei, under the theme 'Heritage of God s Love - Tingwang Lungsa Luiwangbo', featuring a range of events and worship services," stated LCCC.
This significant gathering was spearheaded by Liangmai Naga Baptist Association, Manipur in collaboration with other Christian denominations within the Liangmai community.
The three-day event featured music, exhibitions of traditional items and addresses from esteemed figures, prayers, blessings, and notably, impactful sermons from revered servants of God,' Rev Dr Peter Thiumai, president and founder of Baptist Graduate School of Theology and Mission, Assam, and Rev Kitanwi Chewang, executive secretary of Liangmai Baptist Association, Nagaland.
