Barrier Free fortnight campaign begins

Imphal, October 17 2024: Handicapped Development (HD) Foundation, Manipur kicked off the 17th Barrier Free Fortnight Campaign on the theme 'Equal Access, Equal Opportunity' at Cheirap Court Complex, Uripok here on Thursday.

The launch programme was held with Imphal West District and Sessions Judge Yumkham Rother, Imphal East District and Sessions Judge Ningthoujam Lanleima, Imphal West CJM Ashem Tarunakumari Devi and Imphal East CJM Sorokhaibam Sadananda as presidium members.

In her address, HD Foundation secretary general Dr Laishram Bina informed that the programme aims to minimise physical, transportation, social, attitudinal, and communication barriers to create a more inclusive environment for the differently-abled persons.

She noted that positive changes have been observed following similar campaigns conducted with various government departments and expressed hope for further improvements in the near future.

As part of the campaign, relevant posters and leaflets were distributed.
