Imphal, April 15 2024:
Rrof Angomcha Bimol Akoijam has asked the youth of Manipur to walk the path of truth, uphold good behaviour and manner, and to exercise their voting rights for a better future of the state and its people.
He made the clarion call during an interaction session held at Keishamthong house on Monday, which was organised by Oja Bimol Akoijam Fan Club.
The interaction session was organised on the theme 'role of youths in Manipur'.
Addressing the gathering, Prof Bimol said that changes in the society should be brought by youths in the age range of 20 to 30 years.
One can see this fact if they look into the history of the state.
Good behaviour and moral character with good manners are prerequisites of a progressive society and one should always keep in mind that everything good should start from self, he said, encouraging the youth to stay away from the mindset of responding bad with bad but with good.
Administration through muscle and money power would not last long.
A new Manipur can never be brought through intimidation.
One should not fear any forces while walking the path of truth in order to bring a new Manipur.
Though Hitler of German was a powerful person of his time with his strong sense of nationalism, he is one of the most despised persons in the history of the world today, Prof Bimol reminded.
He further said that people are taking up arms to defend the state due to the failure of the government to perform its duty.
At the same time, everybody should respect those, who are fighting for the integrity and identity of the state without caring for their lives.
Everybody knows some persons are using certain communities but people of the state should fight such divisive agenda and threat with the same courage displayed by the forefathers in the historic Khongjom War, he added.
He also advised the youths to never indulge with anybody, who are using false propaganda and uncultured words.
Instead, they should avoid such low standard of politics, the professor stressed, while clarifying that he is neither asking the people to vote for him nor projecting self as the best and most deserving candidate.
"All that I am asking for is to exercise the voting rights for a better future of the state and its people," he maintained.
