Mangani Leihun of Nonibala held at Temporary Market

Imphal, July 23 2023:
The 'Mangani Leihun' (fifth-day ritual) of Ningom-bam Nonibala alias Ichan who died on a road mishap while making preparations for a joint mothers' protest, was observed by Khwairamband Ima Keithel Joint Co- Or-dinating Committee for Peace at Temporary Market, Khwairamband on Sunday.
As part of the observance, floral tributes were offered to the portrait of the deceased as a mark of respect.
Speaking on the occasion, Committee co-convenor Huirem Binodini recounted that Nonibal was killed and several others left injured while trying to invite like-minded groups to attend the joint mothers' protest on July 19 .
She then said that the mothers have not given up the stand of a united Manipur and no to any separate ad ministrations.
She stated that both the central and state governments must work together to prevent the violence from further escalating in the state.
It is unfortunate that the PM failed to address the overall situation in Manipur but is being rather selective on what to say or ignore, which could only lead to more intense agitations, she cautioned.
Meanwhile, JAC of N Nonibala alias Echan Devi of Sing-jamei Waikhom Leikai and family after offering tributes to the deceased in Sinjamei Keithel, carried out a rally on Sunday.
In this regard, JAC convenor Waikhom Abesana raised suspicions over Nonibala's death and as such, urged the authority concerned to investigate and punish the persons) involved.
She further demanded for implementation of NRC in Manipur, removal of narco-terrorists from Manipur and no to any separate administration.
She also urged the PM to be impartial and put an end to the violence, and restore normalcy in Manipur.
