Imphal, July 23 2023:
Mother of the missing 17 year old girl, who remains traceless since she went out with a male friend on July 6, recounted that some men speaking Kuki-Chin dialect snatched the mobile phone during the last call with her daughter.
According to the distraught mother, her daughter is a student of TG Higher Secondary School and regularly attends coaching classes for Chemistry and Physics at two different locations in Imphal from 5.30 to 8.15 am.
On the fateful day, CCTV footages at her coaching centre at Keishampat shows her with a male friend leaving southward on a KTM Duke motorcycle.
From there, another CCTV footage of a petrol pump in Nambol shows the two going southward.
Though local Meira Paibis could not confirm whether they entered Bishnupur Khoupum road, CCTV footage at Lok-tak Project shows a boy and a girl riding a motorcycle towards Lamdan side but they were not the missing duo.
A missing report has been filed and police investigation is going on.
The mother further said that the last contact she had with her daughter was on July 6 around 9.23 pm during which her daughter told her in a shaken voice that she is in Nambol but hastened to inform about her location in Khoupum area upon which some men speaking tribal dialect snatched the phone and she heard them speaking among them for a few seconds before they cut the call.
Later, on July 10 at around 10.24 pm, her son and the missing teen's elder brother got a missed call from an unknown number.
He called back to which a man with tribal accent received the call and cut after saying that he dialled a wrong number, the mother recalled.
She also said that they have met chief minister N Biren, Patsoi MLA and state security advisor Kuldiep Singh, who advised police to expedite the investigation.
Meanwhile, mothers of the missing teens appealed to the people of the state to help find their children.
Mention may be made that police have traced last location of the boy's phone to Kwakta while the girl's phone is active with a SIM card registered in the name of a Kuki resident of Lamdan village in Churachandpur.
