Diocesan Social Service Society distributes food kit to displaced people in Kakching

Diocesan Social Service Society ( DSSC) Imphal under the aegis of Archbishop of Imphal, Caritas India has started distributing food kit to seven relief centres which are opened within Kakching District from today.
The team conducted its first distribution of food kits to Indoor Stadium Kakching run by the Committee for Peace and Social Harmony, Kakching where 250 inmates are taking shelter.
Other relief centres to be distributed are YM High School (60 inmates), Life School (100 inmates), Kalyan Ashram (120 inmates), JnRum Community Hall (150 inmates), KMC Girls Hostel (150 inmates) and Kongoi Community Hall (150 inmates) .

Items distributed include rice, dal, soyabean, washing soap, bathing soap, sugar, haldi powder and tea leaves.
Distributing the food kit to inmates, Most Reverend Bishop Andrew Thazeth, president, Catholic Bishops Conference of India (CBCI) said, "We were all human beings, we should help each other at the time of suffering" .
Sharing the pains and sufferings of the violence affected people is like serving God, he added.
P Somarendra, member, Committee for Peace and Social Harmony lauded the DSSC Imphal under Caritas India for their endless help to the needy and suffering people.
Officials from Caritas India and members of DSSC also attended the distribution programme.
It may be mentioned here that DSSC has been carrying out humanitarian responses in the form of relief work since the outbreak of the ethnic conflict.
