Muslim woman hurt in Kuki militants' attack

Kuki militants set fire to three Meitei houses including a school in Torbung on Saturday around 7 pm .
Later, heavy gunfight ensued between the Kuki militants and the BSF, Kumaon Regiment, VDF and village volunteers in the area from around 2am Sunday, during which a Muslim woman sustained injury and has been admitted to Raj Medicity in serious condition.
The woman has been identified as Sahina Bibi (24) w/o Abdul Gafar of Tronglaobi Terakhongshangbi Grata Panchayat Ward No 1 Kwakta Laithel Maning Leikai.
According to reports culled from the spot, the Kuki militants started firing at the security forces deployed in the area from 7pm Saturday which continued intermittently till 2am Sunday.
At about 3am, the militants utilised two drones to survey the area from Phougakchao Ikhai Maning Leikai to Terakhongshangbi which was followed by attack with heavy fire power including bombs at spots with people.
Sahina Bibi was wounded by the shrapnel of one of the bombs at around 4am.Both BSF and Kumaon Regi ment fired back at the militants from Torbung side, while state forces, VDF and village volunteers retaliated the attack from Phougakchao Ikhai Maning Leikai to Terakhongshangbi.
Meanwhile, around seven rounds were fired from Kangvai Maning Heikol towards Phougakchao Ikhai Maning Leikai at around 12.30 pm Sunday.
However, there is no report of any injury.
According to the locals, the Meitei populace in the area are in a state of fear due to repeated attacks from Kuki inhabited areas near the hills.
As such, they urged the government to help bring about an amicable solution and restore normalcy to the lives of the people.
