Prime Minister, others urged to safeguard Manipur's territory

The recommendations arrived at during a panel discussion organised jointly by Ojha Sanajaoba Memorial Trust (OSMT) and Centre for Human Rights Duties Education Manipur on September 17 at Manipur University Department of Commerce conference hall have been forwarded to the Prime Minister, President, home minister, and Manipur Governor and chief minister demanding safeguard of the territorial boundary of Manipur by amending certain Articles of the Indian constitution.
In a release, OSMT informed that during the 'One day dialogue on idea of Manipur: A Historical legacy of an Asiatic Civilization', various recommendations were adopted including urging the government of India for a constitutional guarantee to safeguard the state quo ante of the historically evolved constitutionally re-established pre-state territorial integrity of Manipur by way of constitutional amendments for ensuring restriction to implementation of Article 3 of the constitution in respect of Manipur.
It also demanded amendment of the Article 371C (1) & (2) of the constitution so as to empower state legislature to deal with the inherent politico-history, socioeconomic and multi-ethnic cultural ethos of Manipur.
The dialogue also resolved to initiate movement with the participation of constitutional experts, academicians and intellectuals, legal fraternity and social leaders for constitutional guarantee on safeguarding the boundary of Manipur, it added.
