Mass rally against proxy voting, booth capturing

In protest against proxy voting and booth capturing in the Autonomous District Council Election, supporters of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Independent Candidates of 10-Aihang and 13-Vomku District Council Constituencies organised a Mass Protest Rally in Chandel District Headquarters on Wednesday.
Large number of protestors including women took part in the rally which started from Oil pump of Chandel.
Holding several placards they marched towards the Office complex of Chandel Deputy Commissioner where a memorandum demanding repolls was handed over to Robert Kshetrimayum, DC Chandel.
After submitting the memorandum, chief agents and candidates also interacted with the Deputy Commissioner and ventilated their grievances to which the Deputy Commissioner assured to look into the matter and take up necessary actions accordingly.

Setoi, an Independent candidate of 10- Aihang DCC said that when he along with election agent went to the Polling Station of 10/1 Aihang at around 6.30 a.m.on the day of voting, the volunteers of Indian National Congress candidate prevented them from entering the polling station.
After the arrival of Assam Rifles personnel they went inside but the workers of the Congress candidate along with some unknown youths stopped them again.
Setoi further said that the workers of Congress candidate were given free hand at 10/1 Aihang Polling Station as the authority did not take up necessary action despite informing about the incident.
Worker of BJP Candidate for 13 Vomku DCC Angkhulon shilshi also told the media persons that some workers of a particular candidate captured the Polling Stations of 13/4 Larong Khullen, 13/7 Phiran Khullen and 13/8 Anal Khullen.
While appealing to address the matter for delivering justice, Angkhulon Shilshi also warned to taken up an intense form of people's agitation if the authority delays in tackling the issue.
