Looms, inputs distributed to Hiyanglam weavers

Kakching, October 17 2024: Hiyanglam MLA Dr Yumnam Radheshyam on Thursday distributed looms and other inputs provided by Directorate of Handloom and Textiles to select weavers of Hiyanglam Handloom Cluster.

The programme jointly organised by District Handloom and Textiles, Kakching and MLA Dr Radheshyam was held at the latter's Langmeidong Bazar residence.

In his address as the chief guest, Dr Radheshyam assured direct and indirect benefits from government to the Cluster having more than 1000 members.

He further assured construction of work shed for 20 weavers and provision of reeling and twisting machine to three weavers.

As part of direct benefit, 249 weavers out of 500 covered under first phase of baseline were provided looms (144 weavers), solar lighting units (30 weavers), motorised yarn winding machine (10), loom accessories including 'Suna' and 'Samjet' to 27, and warping machine to 15 .

District Handloom and Textiles, Kakching project manager W Bijenti was president of the distribution function also attended by Waikhong Zilla Parishad ex-member Chongtham Indrajit and social workers Yumnam Somorjit, Thounaojam Laxman, and Elangbam Manihar as guests of honour.
