Unauthorised runners have been reportedly causing inconvenience to patients and engaging in fraudulent activities at Thoubal District Hospital, prompting strong reactions from local pharmacies.
JC Pharmacy and D&J Medicos, two pharmaceutical outlets opposite to gate of district hospital, have raised complaints against these unauthorised runners, alleging that they are not only causing inconvenience to patients but also swindling money under false pretences.
Speaking at a press meet, JC Pharmacy proprietor Oinam Sanamacha recounted an incident wherein a patient, who brought some medicines from his pharmacy on April 13, presented a receipt from another pharmacy on Sunday and made baseless claims at his shop.
It Was revealed that a runner had deceived the patient party by using a receipt from D&J Medicos, possibly discarded on the roadside.
Informing that the runner intimidated him when confronted, Sanamacha urged authority concerned to address the issue swiftly.
Chipping in D&J Medicos proprietor Jina, condemned fraudulent activities of the runner while pointing out that the receipt provided to the patient did not match details of the purchase made at JC Pharmacy, raising concerns about attempt made to tarnish his pharmacy's reputation.
Both proprietors urged the authorities, including the medical superintendent of the district hospital and the Thoubal deputy commissioner to investigate the matter thoroughly and implement measures to prevent such fraudulent activities within the hospital's vicinity.
