Imphal, November 22 2014 :
The All Tribal Students' Union Manipur (ATSUM) led by Muan Tombing said it is perturbed to witness the rampant murder of the North East Students in the capital city of India and other metropolitan cities.
According to the ATSUM statement, many of a time the central government has been reminded to take up stringent measures to put to an end to discrimination and violence against people from the north eastern region.
"Like Mizoram, The Manipur state Legislative Assembly should also pass a resolution to stop rampant attack, murder, rape and molestation against the N.E region students who are scattered in every part of mother India," ATSUM stated.
Strongly condemning the third such incident in the last 48 hours particularly the mysterious murder of a 33 years old Ph.D, a scholar late ZINGRAN KASHUNG KENGOO with his neck slit with a knife in south Delhi kotla Mabarakpur area, ATSUM urges the central Government to probe the case and award befitting punishment to the murderer according to the nature of the crime.
"The Government of Manipur should also initiate steps for immediate intervention pertaining to racial discrimination and frequent murder on north east people in the capital and mainland India," ATSUM stated.
While regretting the distinct loss of an intellectual from the soil of Manipur, the Union expresses its profound grief to the bereaved family of late Zingran K.Kengoo.
