Expedition Alfresco organized at Harvakhangai peak

Imphal, November 22 2014 :
Fraternity of East eyes line society (FEELS) in collaboration with the Village authority of Kangkhui phungdhar organized a function titled "Expedition Alfresco" at Harvakhangai peak located at 1 miles east of khangkhui village, Ukhrul.
The function was organized to create awareness of the location as the first battle of second world war in Indian Soil.
The program was attended by Samual Risom, MLA, 44 A/C (ST) Ukhrul Constituency; Brigadier Peeyush Panday, VSM, DIG 10th Sector, Assam Riffles; Mr RK Saha, Commander, 25 BRTF, Manipur; Yumnam Rajeshwor Singh, Co-founder 2nd World War Imphal Campaign Foundation and Village head and chairman of Khangkhui Phungdhar.
There was a gathering of more than 300 persons coming from kangkhui and near by village.

MLA Simon Risom spoke on the people's duty to make Khangkhui a tourist destination.
He informed that days are not far when the Japanese and the British will come to the location as tourist.
He shared the stories his elders had told him about the battle that took place 70 years ago.
Brigadier Peeyush also commented on the beauty of the location and the tourism potential the place is gifted with.
Yumnam Rajeshwor explained the battle from his research findings.
He highlighted the strategic importance of the location and the consequences of the battle.
The function was also attended by members of Royal Riders Manipur.
Cultural troops and Local artist also entertain the occasion with pomp and show.
