IIIT holds freshers' / farewell meet

The Indian Institute of Information Technology (IIIT), Manipur organised freshers' cum farewell meet at its Mantripukhri campus on Wednesday.
According to a statement received here, IIIT Manipur CSE HoD & students' affairs HoS, Dr Kishorjit Nong meikapam emphasised the importance of discipline and hard work in shaping students into future leaders of the nation while director Prof Krishnan Bhaskar, in his presidential address, highlighted the institute's advancements in placement and networking skills.
Prof Krishnan also wcl corned the new batch of 239 engineering students, bringing the institute's current strength to over 750 students, including more than 90 female students.
Prof Bhaskar also reflected on his journey in expanding IIIT Manipur, which had only 215 students and three female students when he joined as director.
He noted that the lone Manipuri girl admitted this year would serve as a future ambassador for the community at IIIT Manipur.
IGP Nishit Ujjwal, who attended the event as chief guest, urged students from the diverse backgrounds to unite in contributing to the nation's progress through their technological expertise.
He encouraged students, especially those from rural areas, to focus on their goals and make a name for themselves.
As part of the event, 4th-year students were honoured with mementos during a farewell ceremony.
The programme also featured cultural performances by students and singing of the national anthem.
