N Biren unfazed by demand for his removal as CM

In response to the letter submitted by 19 ruling MLAs addressed to the Prime Minister, which reportedly included demand for his removal amid the ongoing crisis, chief minister N Biren said he is not concerned by the missive as everyone is 'free to express their views and opinions' in a democratic society.
Responding to queries raised by media persons after a briefing on development projects held at the Darbar hall of CM's secretariat Wednesday, Biren said the letter to the PM with a call to remove him as the CM will not be accorded importance as the same might be some legislators sharing their views on pertinent issues.
On whether there is fissures within the government, the chief minister maintained that there is no crack in the present government while recalling that some ruling MLAs had some time back appended their signatures for meeting the PM.
Stating that one may relay wish to do anything they like in democracy, he affirmed 'we will concentrate on our works'.
Regarding MLAs' meet convened by the Ministry of Home Affairs recently to resolve the ethnic crisis, the chief minister said it is premature to go into details of the meeting and the matter is in process.
The statement issued by PIB regarding the meeting was official and we do not want to give any comment and no one gives comment on the meeting till date, Biren added.
To another poser regarding the tri partite talk involving the United Naga Council, he said the tripartite talk was continuation from the past and it is necessary to hold dialogue to sort out grievances and the government has to listen to grievances from any section of people.
Regarding the torching of some houses in Jiribam district a few days back, N Biren Singh said that community leaders of the area have met and talked to each other and the matter has been settled.
He said that the arson acts were not committed by communities in conflict but the identities of those who torched the houses will not be revealed as of now.
Terming as unfortunate the incident at Tuibong bazar in Churachandpur and shutdown in the district headquarters, the chief minister stated that the incident happened due to lack of communication among some local bodies and the district administration and police have taken up measures to prevent unwanted incidents.
The press conference was also attended by ministers Th Biswajit, Awangbow Newmai, Dr Sapam Ranjan, H Dingo, L Susindro, Th Basanta Kumar and MLAs Kh Ibomcha, Th Arunkumar, Karam Shyam, Sapam Kunjakeshor (Keba), S Premchandra, Thongam Shanti, M Rameshwar, K Leishiyo and Dinganglung Gangmei.
