Vigil will continue till resettlement Langsai Thouna

Kakching, October 23 2023: The vigil at the Kakching Lamkhai will continue until the Meetei people displaced from Moreh, who are taking shelter in various relief camps return to their original place of residence, declared Langsai Thouna, Kakching convener Rajiv Kshetri.

Addressing a press meet at Kakching Lamkhai on Monday, Rajiv lamented that since the conflict erupted in May 3 no one from Meetei community has gone back to their house at Moreh till now.

Further stating that state forces despatched for deployment at Moreh are yet to reach the border town as they have been blocked by Kuki womenfolk, he said that unless 500-600 personnel of state forces are deployed at Moreh it will not be safe for Meeteis to return back to their homes.

Hence, the state government must ensure that the said number of police personnel is kept at Moreh, he emphasised.

Rajiv also maintained that during the vigil at Kakching Lamkhai edible items being transported for communities residing in Moreh except for Kukis are allowed to pass through.

He also contended that Kukis are attacking Meeteis using firearms, while Meeteis are keeping vigil without any weapons other than blocking food supply of Kukis.Rajiv further appealed to people of Kakching and surrounding areas along with other state denizens to extend support to them in taking on the Kuki refugees.
