St John Believers Eastern Church, New Wangparal, Chandel district, celebrated 75 years of Christianity in the village on Tuesday, bringing together religious leaders, well-wishers, and villagers in a gathering of faith and remembrance.
The Platinum Jubilee celebrated under the theme "Ebenezer", symbolised gratitude for God's blessings and guidance throughout the decades.
Unveiling the Jubilee monolith, HG Bishop Jeremiah Mor Theodosius, Episopa, reminded the gathering that the monolith stands as a testimony to God's love and endurance over the years.
"This monolith would serve as a lasting reminder for future generations of how the villagers of New Wangparal have remained steadfast in their faith".
The Bishop also released a Jubilee souvenir titled "The 75th Years of God's Providence and Salvation in Christ", chronicling the Church's journey over the decades.
Parpa Jonah, the second son of late PR Ratshu, the founder of the Church in the village, hoisted the jubilee flag, followed by traditional ringing of the gong 75 times, led by All Manipur Christian Organisation (AMCO) president reverend Simon Raomai.
Delivering the keynote address, Reverend Raomai paid homage to the pioneers of the Church, acknowledging their sacrifices and perseverance in establishing Christianity in the village.
He stated that the present generation owes their faith to the dedication of their forebears and urged the congregation to remain unwavering in their spiritual journey despite life's challenges.
On behalf of AMCO, he extended warm wishes and respect to the villagers and Church founders.
The event was marked by a series of cultural and spiritual performances, including special songs by St John BEC, New Wangparal, Monika Serto, Wan-greikim, and Clera Marim.
Choreographed presentations by the women's department of Sunday School, St John NEBEC, and a cultural dance by the youth added to the festive spirit.
The EAP Choir (EFCI) also performed hymns that enchanted the gathering.
In a special gesture, daughters of the village married outside were honoured for their contributions, particularly in supporting the construction of the jubilee monolith.
The celebration was also attended by numerous pastors and religious leaders from the Chothe community and other tribes.
