Imphal literature Festival organised

Imphal, December 31 2023: Sahitya Thoupang Lup organised the annual Imphal Literature Festival at Manipur Hindi Parishad hall, Old Assembly Road here on Sunday.

The festival was attended by Manipuri Advisory Board, Sahitya Akademi convenor Prof Rajen Toijamba as chief guest and ex-convenor Nongmaithem Kirankumar as president, while Prof Thounaojam Ratankumar participated as the book reviewer.

Speaking on the occasion, Sathou Lup advisor and writer Saratchand Thiyam expressed that as literature plays an important role in resolving various issues plaguing the society, there is a need to hold discourse for writers/authors from time to time.

Informing that Sathou Lup plans to hold health camps in relief camps, he further said that poetry recitals and discourses with writers of West Bengal, Agartala (Tripura), Cachar (Assam) and other places will be organised, in addition to conducting symposium on literary works from China, Japan; America and other countries.

During the function, a poetry book, titled 'Adrift', based on post-independence Manipur; second volume of another poetry book, titled 'Beyond the Language'; and the 17th issue of Sathou Lup's international Manipuri magazine, 'Shaklon' were released.
