Imphal, July 09 2015 :
The Manipur Governor, Syed Ahmed, has returned the Manipur Regulation, Visitors, Tenants Migrant Workers Bill 2015 which was passed in the last session to the Assembly without giving his assent.
It is reserved for the consideration of the President.
This information was furnished by the leader of the House Okram Ibobi in the House on Thursday while replying to several members who spoke about the ILP demand.
In fact, I Ibohanbi, the Trinamool Congress MLA had tabled a calling attention motion on the issue.
However the speaker had converted it to a short duration discussion during which several ruling and opposition members spoke.
Making his statement the leader of the House said that now that the Governor had returned the Bill the next move has to be chalked out.
The matter would be discussed soon after the adjournment of the monsoon session.
He said that he will seek suggestions from the JCILPS and others.
Now the important issues are whether the present Bill shall be replaced or amended for sending back to the Governor again.
He said that his objective was to have it assented by the Governor.
There is enough time and scope for making necessary amendments as and when necessary.
While a ruling Congress MLA Bijoy was making his speech opposition members rushed to the well of the House creating a rumpus.
Since the House could not be conducted the Speaker Thokchom Lokeswor had to adjourn the House for ten minutes.
