Imphal, July 09 2015 :
As a noisy ruckus broke out during a short duration discussion in the State Assembly today, the Speaker was forced to adjourn the session for around 10 minutes.
The ruckus broke out as Dr Ng Bijoy read out the name of Th Shyamkumar repeatedly at the beginning of a short duration discussion on the demand for enforcement of ILPS in the State.
Dr Bijoy said that the issue about protection of indigenous people is a common issue for all the 57 sitting MLAs.
However, most Imphal based daily papers reported about one Member's declaration not to join the House session if the issue of ILPS is not put in today's agenda.
Reading out the news reports, he mentioned the name of Th Shyamkumar repeatedly.
Soon Dr Ibohalbi, Th Shyamkumar and Samuel Risom stood up and called for an immediate halt.
Then they went straight to the Speaker's well without paying any attention to the Speaker's appeal to hold back.
Subsequently, the Speaker adjourned the session for around 10 minutes.
The session resumed at 12.40 and again Th Shyamkumar and I Ibohalbi urged the Speaker not to let Ng Bijoy speak anything.
They maintained that the Assembly was not a place for reading out newspapers.
