Three held, 9 kg heroin seized, suppliers identified

Imphal, March 26 2025:
Sekmai police arrested three persons involved in a drug racket and recovered total of 4.414 kg suspected heroin on Tuesday.
The arrested persons have been identified as KP Jacob, son of S Panii of Maiba village, Maram, Paomata Sub-Division, Senapati district; and M Joshou, son of Matesou of Laii village, Senapati and his wife J Vasti.
According to a police report, upon receiving reliable information that a huge consignment of illegal drugs is being transported along the National Highway No 2 in two vehicles, a team of Sekmai police station commanded by sub-inspector Arja Sanasam carried out frisking and checking in Sekmai area along the NH-2 .

During frisking and checking around 1.40 pm, a Mahindra Bolero (NL-07CC-9905) and a Tata Harrier (MN01AG-4270) were spotted coming from the direction of Imphal along NH-2.After halting the vehicles and thorough checking, the police team detected 268 soap caps containing suspected heroin and weighing 3.162 kg including weight of plastic pouches from the Bolero driven by KP Jacob.
Meanwhile, on questioning, M Joshou revealed that he and his wife J Vasti were provided with the Tata Harrier by one Ismail from his village, Laii, Senapati and instructed to act as an advance team for the consignment of drugs carried.
On his disclosure, another Bolero (MN01AX-3140) was found parked at Paomei Colony search of which led to the recovery of 107 soap caps containing suspected heroin powder weighing approximately 1.252 kg, including the weight of the plastic pouches.
From preliminary questioning of the accused persons, it came to light that KP Jacob was contacted by one Lily Hmar from Dimapur for transportation of the illegal contraband.
He drove a Bolero, went to Pallel where he met one Haopu of Moreh and exchanged the Bolero with another Bolero (NL-07CC-9905) containing the already concealed contraband.
KP Jacob added that he was promised a sum of Rs 20,000 after reaching Senapati as Joshou disclosed that he was promised a sum of Rs 5000 and refund of the fuel cost, elaborated the police report.
The three arrested persons and the items seized have been handed over to Sekmai police station for necessary action, it added.
