Prizes of written quiz competition distributed

Manipuri Students' Federation (MSF) on Wednesday distributed prizes of the state level written quiz competition organised by it under the theme "Eramdam bu Khangminnahousi" (Let's Know Our Motherland Together) on April 28, as part of its academic campaign "Eik-hoi Lairik Ningthina Tamsi" (Let's Study Well).
The competition aimed to educate young minds about the history of Manipur, the roles of student organisations in socio-political issues, and societal conditions.
According to a statement issued by MSF, 1227 students from various districts participated in the competition conducted at designated centres across the state.
The prize distribution programme was held at Universal English Academy, Lamjao Kakching in the presence of ZEO Kakching assistant inspector (schools) Hijur Hiyanglam, Universal English Academy principal Thounaojam Manigopal, MSF (HQ) general secretary Sundar Khuman, and MSF Kakching District Committee president Thounaojam Alex as presidium members.
During the ceremony, prizes were awarded to top position holders from Kakching district.
Manithoiba Laishram of Pinewood View School, studying in the 11th standard, secured the 1st position.
Koijam Raj Singh from Universal English Academy, an 8th-grade student, stood 2nd, while Anjelina Yumnam of Eureka Academy Thounaojam, studying in the 10th standard, secured the 3rd position.
Certificates and cash awards were presented to the winners in encouragement of their achievements.
During the ceremony, Al Hijur Hiyanglam highlighted the bravery of youth from peripheral areas who are courageously safeguarding the state's territorial integrity amidst the ongoing violence.
Stressing the pivotal role of education in societal transformation, he underscored the evolving trends in students' discipline from earlier times to the 21st century, while urging students to respect their teachers as mentors shaping future leaders.
He commended MSF for organising the competition in Kakching district and expressed hope for further educational development initiatives.
In his address, Thounaojam Manigopal praised MSF for organising the state-level competition^ noting its positive impact on motivating the students to pursue their passion.
He emphasised the competition's role in fostering curiosity about the state's identity and geographical significance, enhancing students' understanding of the state's history.
Meanwhile, Sundar Khuman explained that the delay in prize distribution was due to MSF's efforts in providing essential goods and relocating flood-affected residents to safer areas following the recent flash floods.
He emphasised the educational benefits of the competition, which allows students to enhance their skills across various disciplines.
In addition to organising seminars, competitions, and awareness programmes, MSF has undertaken significant initiatives under its academic campaign 'Eikhoi Lairik Ningthina Tamsi" .
This includes free coaching classes for 10th and 12th standard students, as well as coaching for entrance exams to Central and state universities.
The federation also annually distributes textbooks, stationery, and study materials to peripheral areas of the state.
He also highlighted MSF's role in monitoring both government and private educational institutions to improve the education system and stressed the importance of discipline among students as expressed by AI Hijur Hiyanglam.
Addressing social issues, MSF has actively engaged in drug prevention campaigns through seminars and competitions under "Eikhoi Mayai Kaba Drug Thadoklasi".
Under the environmental initiative "Sanghallasi Manipur," MSF also conducts extensive tree plantation drives across Manipur, including the recent Mt Koubru Mission, aiming to create a sustainable environment for future generations, the statement added.
