DEOs intensify preparations for LS elections

Imphal, April 15 2024:
The voting through postal ballot paper for absentee voters for Imphal West district in connection with the 18th Lok Sabha Election, 2024 commenced on Sunday.
The initiative facilitates voting rights to senior citizen for 85 years and above (AVSC) and persons with disabilities with at-least 40 per cent disability (AVPD) at their respective houses.
The first round of house-to-house visit for absentee voters, which began on Sunday, will continue till April 15 from 9 am to 5 pm daily.
A total of 1,997 eligible absentee voters have been identified by the District Election Officer (DEO), Imphal West from 13 assembly constituencies.
The second round house-to-house visit is scheduled on April 16 from 9 am to 5 pm.
KAKCHING: Kakching district concluded its final round of training for all drafted polling personnel on Monday, with the last sessions held at the training hall of Kakching DC office building (New Block) .
The training focused on preparing polling officers for poll day, including familiarisation with polling materials, Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) and VVPAT handling, polling processes, use of mobile applications like e-Atlas and Poll Star app and other official duties.
The training was attended by presiding officers and various polling officials and covered essential voting procedures and responsibilities.
KANGPOKPI: District Election Officer (DEO)/DC, Kangpokpi, Mahesh Chaudhari chaired a meeting at DC office complex extension building to brief the polling parties on their work allocations for the ensuing 18th Lok Sabha Election, 2024.The DEO addressed the polling teams and emphasised that they play a crucial role in making the election successful in the district.
He reminded them that the success of the election in the district depends on their dedication and commitment towards their duties.
Praising the polling teams for their hard work and involvement till date, he encouraged them to continue their hard work in close collaboration with teams to ensure for a free, fair, smooth and transparent election.
District Coordination and Supervision in-charge N Shokhongam Baite informed the officials about the process and procedures for dispersal and receiving of the polling parties on the election day along with conveying that parking allotments have been set up for duty officials at the Kangpokpi community hall from April 16 to 18.The officials were also briefed on the procedure for receiving polling officials, verifying EVMs, and ensuring proper sealing of the machines .
The DEO was also joined by CEO, SH-ADC James Doujapao Haokip and district nodal officers.
It may be mentioned that the dispersal of polling parties and security personnel will be held on April 17 and 18 at Brigadier Thomas Ground.
CCPUR: The second day of the final round of training for presiding and polling officers I, II, III along with male special polling stations for internally displaced persons (IDPs) and for persons with disability (PwD) in respect of Singhat assembly segment was held on Saturday at Churachandpur Government College.
The training sessions were conducted under the supervision of nodal officer (Training Management) S Thienlaljoy Gangte, nodal officer (Man Power) Lalthan-zam Fimate and nodal officer (Postal Ballot) Soiminlian Lengen.
The master trainers imparted handling of EVMs, poll day arrangements and acquaintance with polling materials and EVM & VVPAT, filling up of presiding officer diary, mock poll certificate, completion of statutory forms, filling up essential forms like voters slip, declaration, Forms 17-C, etc., in preparation for the smooth, free, fair and transparent conduct of democratic election.
Including six officials for female special polling stations and one PwD, 71 polling officers attended the training session.
