Three held with gold worth ₹27 lakh

DPF Unit Imphal Customs Division apprehended three women along with contraband gold worth Rs 27 lakh along Imphal-Moreh road on Friday.
According to an official statement, the custom officials detained the three lady passengers in Canchipur area while travelling from Moreh towards Imphal and detected eight gold bangles and two gold chains of semi-finished/rough form of foreign origin.
The total weight of gold bangles and gold chains is 415.10 grams with a market value of Rs 27,21,460.The accused have been identified as Sunita Devi wife of Inderjeet Chouhan, Indu Kumari & Reshma Kumari, daughters of Inderjeet Chouhan, all of Ward No 2, Dalpatti, Moreh in Tengnoupal district.
The recovered gold consignment was formally seized at the Customs Divisional Office, Imphal, where a case has been registered.
The accused have also been apprehended under relevant section of the Customs Act, 1962.Further investigation ' of the case is going on.
