Former minister Debendra condoled

Congress party, and Manipur Ex-MLAs' Welfare Association condoled the untimely demise of former home minister Thoudam Debendra, who passed away on Tuesday aged 87 years, due to an ailment.
Manipur Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) held a condolence meeting at Congress Bhawan on Wednesday and paid floral tributes to his remains.
During the condolence meet, CLP leader Okram Ibobi said that aside from being a great leader of Congress party, the former minister was a man of integrity, who stood for the unity and integrity of the state at many crucial occasions.
When the Congress government faced difficult situations threat ening the state's integrity, the party always consulted him and took his advice.
His demise, when the state is facing an existential threat, is a great loss for the state.
His contributions in the held of law and order of the state is noteworthy, Ibobi said.
Congress firmly believes that the bloodshed in Jiribam district would have been averted if Debendro was the MLA of Jiribam assembly constituency.
Jiribam becoming a full-fledged district was one of his greatest contributions to the people of the district.
Congress party prays for his soul to rest in peace, and also shares the grief and pain of his bereaved family, he added.
Meanwhile, Manipur Ex-MLAs' Welfare Association also held a condolence meeting at its office premises at the Manipur Legislative Assembly complex on Thursday.
Informing this in a statement, the association said that the former minister was elected from Jiribam AC seven times in 1980, 1984, 1990, 1995, 2002, 2007, and 2012.He had held different departments and also held the post of the Speaker of the Manipur Legislative Assembly during his tenure.
He was a dedicated and kind-hearted leader, and his demise is an irreparable loss for the state, the association said while praying for his soul to rest in peace.
