Imphal, July 01 2009:
The anti malaria camp organized by the Kangleipak Ngalhanba Apunba Lup (KANGAL) in association with the District Malaria Officer of Imphal which started on June 27 last was concluded today.
Around 693 people belonging to different villages of Lamsang Constituency and Sekmai Constituency of Imphal West were tested during the camp expressed a statement issued by General Secretary of KANGAL, Nimai Koijam.
Out of 477 blood samples tested till today, 27 people of Taothong were found positive.
Results of 216 blood samples are yet to be received.
Free medicines were distributed and Malathion Fuging was also sprayed in order to prevent further spreading of the disease while it is yet to be completed due to the unfavorable weather in the area.
Malathion Fuging will be further sprayed in the area whenever the weather is conducive despite the camp has been concluded today.
KANGAL appealed to all the clubs and organizations to kindly inform KANGAL if any area is found suspected of spreading Malaria in the statement.
The statement of KANGAL also expressed their heartiest gratitude to the Chief Officer of the State Malaria Department, District Malaria Officers and all the doctors who took part in the five-day anti-malaria camp and expect further help from them in future too.
