ULFA leaders arrive in Delhi to further peace talks

New Delhi, February 09, 2011: A delegation of nine members of The United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) led by its Chairman Arabinda Rajkhowa arrived in Delhi today afternoon from - to pursue peace talks with the Centre Government.

Others include its General Secretary Pradip Gogoi, Publicity Secretary Mithinga Daimary and Foreign Secretary Sashadhar Choudhary.

The delegate team is slated to meet the Union Home Secretary Shri.

G.K Pillai to begin the talk in the early hour of tomorrow in the office of the Ministry of Home Affairs.

They will also meet several other officials including Home Minister P Chidambaram.

Later in the week , the ULFA leadership will conduct press conference and also held meetings with Assam student union.

Reportedly, it may be mentioned that as per the ULFA's central executive council and general council decision the outfit will continue the talks without pre condition.

That it will no longer insist on 'sovereignty' as a precondition of the talk.

At the press conference, earlier before coming to the capital for the talk, in Guwahati, Chowdhary had also said " we agreed to unconditional talks.

We don't want any demand to jeopardise the peace process.

Preconditions have stood in the way of the peace process since 1992".The Assamese Students Association Delhi (ASAD) welcome the ULFA leaders with banners with slogans " welcome ULFA for the peace process, we want peace and eternity" .

Speaking to media persons President of ASAD, Gaurav Datta said "we support the peace process".
