Imphal, May 02 2024:
Internally displaced persons and the Khumujamba Meitei Leikai Pattadars' Association would be observing the first anniversary of the Manipur crisis as Mikap Thokpa Numit or Day of Awakening on Friday at Singjamei Akampat Relief Camp.
Speaking to media persons at Manipur Press Club here today, Sairem Ibungo, speaking on behalf of IDPs and the Khumujamba Meitei Leikai Pattadars' Association, said that the unrestrained aggression launched by Kuki narco-terrorists on May 3, 2023 and the subsequent crisis has completed one year.
"We would observe the first anniversary of the unprecedented aggression as the Day of Awakening and we will offer our homage to all the martyrs who had laid down their lives in the struggle to protect the integrity of Manipur and its territorial boundary", he said.

By attacking Meiteis who were 'sleeping', the Kuki narco-terrorists have awakened the Meiteis.
Everyone has now realised that the aggression was not any spontaneous outbreak but a premeditated offensive planned 30 years back, Ibungo said.
He said that the Kukis have been scheming to achieve a separate administration since decades back.
Tens of thousands of Meitei houses have been burnt down by Kuki narco-terrorists as a part of their offensive in fringe and peripheral areas.
As a result, a large number of Meitei families have been living as refugees in their own native State, he said.
Vowing that they would continue to fight the Kukis who have been challenging the integrity of Manipur, he asserted that the Kukis must tender an apology and give a written assurance that they would never again raise the demand for separate administration or separate State.
