Imphal, June 25 2009:
A month long campaign for anti-malaria inoculation to be conducted by the Imphal East Vector Born Disease Control Society kicked off with an inaugural function held at Porompat Panchayat Bhavan.
The campaign is a part of countrywide campaign to combat with malaria.
The kick off function was graced by Imphal east deputy commissioner, M Lakshmikumar, IAS, Imphal east zilla parishad member T Ratan, state malaria officer, NVBDCP Dr H Nimaichand and chief medical officer, Imphal east Dr Ksh Manglem as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr H Nimaichand expressed that the disease malaria spread by mosquito is still danger.
There were no reports of claiming life by this disease in the state so far even though two live claimed by the disease last year 2008.Out of the two people, one was from Imphal east while the other one from Churachandpur district.
In the state, the disease is found spreading mostly in the hill areas.
In the four valley district, Japanese encephalitis (JE) infect people while in Moreh it is spread by Dengue, he said appealing the people to perform blood test at the nearby hospital, if suffered from fever.
Jiri is the most sensitive among other places of that state where malaria spread.
It is due to the climatic condition of the area.
At the Borbekra, the rate of prevalent of the disease is 2.1 .
Within the Imphal east district, Andro has the highest prevalent of the disease, he said urging the NGOs and other civil organizations to impart help in the campaign programme taken up by the state authorities to content the disease.
Deputy Commissioner, M Lakshmikumar also speaking as chief guest also called upon people participation in the anti-malaria campaign.
He also lauded on the role taking part by the ASHA in the anti-malaria immunization programme.
Expressing the need for spreading health awareness, he also expressed the need for a policy of the government for controlling malaria.
Health awareness programme is an indispensable part of the controlling the disease, he said.
